The Crown King Historical Society hosts the annual Apple Festival in Crown King, Az. This family friendly event is a street fair with a carnival atmosphere. Everyone gets into the act, from the Historic One-Room Schoolhouse to the CK Volunteer Fire Dept. The entire day is full of smiles, laughs and very affordable family fun. A hayride transported our festival guests to all points of interest near the downtown. The General Store melted their famous Homemade Fudge for the kids to dip and decorate apples. The Free Historical Museum was open all day as well. Down at the Saloon you could find a silent auction with a Vendors Alley across the street. Over at The Prospector Mall, kids took turns panning for gold. One of the favorite destinations was Bear Creek Rental Cabins at the end of Main Street just past the Saloon! Their grassy lawn was converted to a huge pumpkin patch. Most kids took time to paint and decorate their pumpkin, just in time for Halloween. Arts and Crafts along with a Bouncy House kept the youngsters very busy at Bear Creek Rental Cabins, too. At the other end of Main St, kids were busy Bobbing For Apples at the Bradshaw Mnt Guest Ranch. Lots of homemade treats and apples were for sale there as well. The CK Fire Dept sponsored a Fire Safety Drill for kids along with giving them tours of the station & trucks. The Crown King School teacher, Claudia Axton and Librarian, Sue Hite, welcomed children and their parents to the historic One Room Schoolhouse. Everywhere the children went there were treats & fun activities.
